Most skin lesions or lumps under the skin are not cancer, but they are bothersome.
All skin lesions, moles, lumps, bumps, etc should be evaluated by a physician.
If they are “worrisome” or deemed at risk, they can be removed under local anesthesia.
If they are bothersome, hurt, getting larger, changing in size or color, or bleeding, then surgery is appropriate.
Done with local anesthesia, the patient can drive themselves to and from the facility, and return to work the next day under most circumstances.
