Colon Diseases:

Diverticulitis is an infection in the “pockets” of the colon and may require surgery.

Polyps can be removed during a colonoscopy.

Cancer (usually from polyps) needs surgical removal of that portion of the colon. A colostomy bag is very rare.

Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) is usually treated by a gastroenterologist with long term medications and observation.
